20th Anniversary Celebration
Mrs. Marjorie G. Kinnan created the Manatee Schools Foundation with the end in mind – to benefit children.
The Manatee Education Foundation's 20th Anniversary Celebration was held Thursday, February 7, 2008, at the Bradenton Yacht Club. The tropical Friendraiser was attended by about 80 Friends of the Foundation, Manatee Education Foundation Board Members, and community members. Cocktails and appetizers were served poolside as Del Couch's Shaman entertained the crowd on the beautiful evening.
Members of the Kinnan family were present to accept a certificate of recognition on behalf of the late Marjorie G. Kinnan, who was recognized as the founding member of the Foundation. Former Manatee School District Superintendent Gene Witt spoke about the beginning years of the Foundation and Mrs. Kinnan's determination in creating the organization to support the efforts of local teachers.
